hi! first, let me thank you for your work on mondo and mindi! many thanks to mike for his suse rpms - no more segfaults caused by newt (or mondo-2.04?). (without his suse rpms I didn't get mondo working here...) we're using mondo on sles8 (older mindo/mondo, working perfect) and sles9 with 2.03/1.03 with the following problems: the partition table (afaik mindi makes failures while reading the partition table) is corrupt. at first i noticed the following warning during the rescue: "Gap prior /dev/sda5..." here the fdisk -l of the orginal, right table: <<---snip--->> Disk /dev/sda: 72.7 GB, 72771174400 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 8847 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 1 8846 71055463+ f W95 Ext'd (LBA) /dev/sda5 1 7 56164+ 83 Linux /dev/sda6 8 269 2104483+ 82 Linux swap /dev/sda7 270 531 2104483+ 83 Linux /dev/sda8 532 1837 10490413+ 83 Linux /dev/sda9 1838 2360 4200966 83 Linux /dev/sda10 2361 3666 10490413+ 83 Linux /dev/sda11 3667 4972 10490413+ 83 Linux /dev/sda12 4973 8846 31117873+ 83 Linux <<---snap--->> And here's what I get during restoration: <<---snip--->> Disk /dev/sda: 72.7 GB, 72771174400 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 8847 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 5 40131 83 Linux /dev/sda2 6 8847 71023365 5 Extended /dev/sda5 * 6 13 64228+ 83 Linux /dev/sda6 14 276 2112516 82 Linux swap /dev/sda7 277 539 2112516 83 Linux /dev/sda8 540 1846 10498446 83 Linux /dev/sda9 1847 2370 4208998+ 83 Linux /dev/sda10 2371 3677 10498446 83 Linux /dev/sda11 3678 4984 10498446 83 Linux /dev/sda12 4985 8847 31029516 83 Linux <<---snap--->> imho mindi seems to fail while "reading" the extended partition... so my quenstions are: - can I mix newer/older versions of mondo/mindi or should the minor release number be the same one? this could help me finding the problem... - where's the anonymous cvs of mondo? - can someone give me a short introduction where to start reading mindi src to find the place of the partition stuff? thanks! sidenote: sles9 is binary compatible with suse-9.1 sles8 with suse-8.1 (makes testing and developing more easy if someone has no sles "license".) -- Liebe Gruesse, with best regards Stephan Lauffer [ Pedagogical University Freiburg - Germany ] [ http://www.ph-freiburg.de/zik/ ] [ Fon/ Fax: +49 761 682 -459/ -486 ] |
