MoinMoin lacks support for authentication through LDAP,
which could be very useful for environments where LDAP
is being used.

Do you use Apache? Then you can easily setup LDAP with
mod_ldap. There have been numerous reports about a working
    installation.

We might introduce native LDAP authentication in 1.4

Using HTTP basic authentication with mod_ldap works,
but it wouldn't create MoinMoin users automatically.

    Additionally, configuring HTTP authentication globally
with a <Location> statement prevents anonymous
    read-only browsing of the Wiki.

User autocreation was added in moin--main--1.5--patch-247
and will be in 1.5 release.

cfg.auth now is a list of auth methods (e.g. http,
    moin_cookie, ssl_clientcert, ...).

This should be a good start for trying ldap stuff again.
