Thanks for idea Walter. Although your advice about gzip encoded doesn't fix our problem of Outbound rules not firing, it did verify the issue you described. Below are samples from our Audit log directory - with no changes to gzip settings & secondly with 'sudo a2dismod -f deflate' applied: --bf80523b-E-- ^_<8B>^H^@^@^@^@^@^@^C<A5>SMs<DA>0^P=<93><99><FC><87><8D>N<ED><C1>(i.Mk3C<81>N3C <93><98>О:<C2>^<B0>ZYR%^Y<92><FE><FA>J<FE> 0<A1><A7>^4<BB><DE><DD><F7><9E><F7><E3><FC><EC><FC>,<BE>^X<CF>F<E9><F7><F9>^D W <98>/>MoG@"J<97><D7>#J<C7><E9>^X<BE>}I<EF><A6>pտ<84>^Ggx<E6>(<9D>|%@ Becomes: --6175b167-E-- <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" " http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> To clarify, our issue of Outbound rules not firing still persists. At this stage I don't think we will continue investigating this. We may try Centos instead. Best of luck. and I'll continue to keep an eye on the mailing lists. Regards Jay |
