as you might know or not know I've been working on a pinger for some
time now: echolot2
echolot2 is aimed to be very low maintainence.
As such it learns about new remailers all by itself (from reliable
remailer-conf replies) and starts to ping and list them if told to do
It also removes dead pingers automatically from the stats and stops
pinging them after a while.
It produces mlist and rlist, both v1 and v2, both txt and html versions.
It builds the pgp keyring (rsa-only and all) and mixmaster keyring
(mixring.pub, type2.list). It also builds a Thesaurus similar to the one
The current version is 2.0beta1. I have it running on my local host for
quite some time but would welcome feedback from anybody willing to give
it a try.
It's written in Perl and currently requires those things to be
XML::Parser, XML::Dumper, Digest::MD5, Mail::Internet, HTML::Template,
GnuPG::Interface (>=3D 0.33), gnupg (>=3D 1.0.7) and mixmaster.
[ All those with the exeption of mixmaster are available in Debian and
I guess in your favorite distribution too. Otherwise checkout CPAN.
I could prepare a Debian package of echolot2 if it's of interest to
someone. Just say a word. ]
You can download it from
or via cvs with=20
cvs -d:pserver:anoncvs@...:/cvsroot/echolot login=20
cvs -d:pserver:anoncvs@...:/cvsroot/echolot co echolot=20
