Bruce,=20 You mentioned you were planning a release soon. What do you think of = announcing a beta release to the list and then give a few of us a week = or so to test it before making it final? The last two releases have had = problems due to mis-coordination between authors, including me. Now = that releases are less frequent, I think this problem is more likely. =20 David |

Bruce, I second David's idea... And I certainly hope the fix I desire most makes it into this next release: The balance and volume problems that were recently identified. I forgot who figured it out, mostly, then asked that Bruce have a look for the ultimate fix. Bruce? Did ya get that one too?? Would ya please, please fix it? I'm playing music, and the balance shifts right at random intervals... Is there a list someplace of things to fix for the next release?? Please add this to it! Did ya get that one too?? No, sorry, I did not look at this. I suspect the problem is with these lines in mh/code/common/mh_sound.pl: $volume_previous = Win32::Sound::Volume; $volume = int 255 * $volume / 100; # (0->100 => 0->255) $volume = $volume + ($volume << 16); # Hack to fix a bug &Win32::Sound::Volume($volume); Maybe you could try commenting out the last line to verify? Then we could make that optional. Bruce |

Bruce, Yes! By commenting-out the last line, as described below, the problem has ceased. The balance remains dead-center, and I'm a happy camper! This is not the fix, nor will making this an option. If I understand the issue, and what others have said on the matter, the trouble is storing and properly restoring the volume data. A variable is overflowing, perhaps...? Maybe something is case sensitive...?? And why did a change in the "volume" section fix a "balance" problem?? I know you can specify a volume level, but can you also position the balance as well? How (example)?? Thanks for looking into this. Sincerely, Jack :) Bruce Winter wrote: >> And I certainly hope the fix I desire most makes it into this next >> release: >> >> The balance and volume problems that were recently identified. >> >> I forgot who figured it out, mostly, then asked that Bruce have a >> look for the ultimate fix. >> >> Bruce?
