I have just started using mh and X-10 devices and have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have a Hawkeye motion sensor that used to be set to A2. The lights in my kitchen were also A2. When motion was detected the lights came on right away. I decided that I wanted to have more control over things and started using mh to do my control logic. So, I moved the motion detector to B4 (keeping as many A addresses available for lights and such as I use the IR to X-10 convertor and it only supports 8 devices). Now when the CM11 gets the motion and tells mh about it I have either the kitchen light or several lights turn on depending on the time of day. However, I get about a 3 second delay from the time that motion is sensed to the time the lights come on. I tried decreasing the sleep parameter from 100 to 50 and then 10 all to no avail. The delay was the same. Is this delay caused by the CM11 or is their some other parameter that I am missing? Three seconds does not seem like a long time, but when you are in the dark it is. Also, I am seriously considering getting the HomeVision box with phone/CID board added. I want to have voice control to be able to turn my AV equipment on and off and I like the idea of having PIP pop up with caller ID info or front door camera, etc... Is the HomeVision PC a good choice for this? I plan on leaving the computer up all the time to do scheduling and such, so the "PC" version of the HomeVision looks like a better solution than the standard unit. Any thoughts? Thanks, Cullen Simpson |

I am considering buying the HomeVision PC unit to control my A/V gear. Does anyone have any feedback positive or negative about the unit? I am looking at the PC version because it is cheaper and I have mh running all the time anyway. I am also looking for an IR Blaster so that I can mount it in the Stereo cabinet at one location and not worry about the stick on emitters. However, Smarthome says that they have discontinued the blaster. It was a small clear emitter that claims to work up to 30 feet away. I am worried about the stick on emitters falling off. Any thoughts? I can't look right now because their site isn't answering (http://www.csi3.com/homevis2.htm), but I believe that the HomevisionPC version (internal card) can't use the expansion board, and so you can't use Homevision's analog ports, digital temperature sensors, and Caller-ID/Touchtone expansion boards. Of course, the beauty of MisterHouse is that you can always use other hardware to do those items. Weeder is famous for the touchtone, I think they also do caller-id (?), or you can use a regular caller-id capable modem. And there are $30-$40 digital temperature sensor kits out there that will just use up another serial port. > I am also looking for an IR Blaster so that I can mount it in the Stereo > cabinet at one location and not worry about the stick on emitters. I don't think anyone makes a blaster anymore. I use the stick-on emitters, and haven't had problems with them falling off except for on my TV's IR sensor (its sensor protrudes a little and is textured - I plan on using clear silicone-sealant to try to stick it on better...) > > Any thoughts? > > Thanks, > Cullen > > -- > .--------------------------------------------------------------------------. > | Cullen Simpson The 3D Computing Solution | > | Badencorp | > | 101 Sunnytown Rd, Suite 208 Tel: (407)250-2777 | > | Casselberry, Fl 32707 Fax: (407)260-0584 | > | www.badencorp.com Email: cu...@ba... | > `--------------------------------------------------------------------------' > > > > > ________________________________________________________ > List options: http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=1365 > > |

Bruce, Have you implemented state_now for groups in 2.0? I have some logic that I would like to perform based on whether a group of lights os on or just a single light within that group. I took a feeble stab at adding that state_now code to Group.pm, but it did not work and I am not really sure what I am doing with it yet. Also, does the state_now value for individual items get updated if they are changed from an external (to mh) source? If someone used a remote to turn on a light I do not want mh shutting it back off. I guess the best way might be to assign all the remotes to codes that mh monitors and let mh actually turn the light on or off. Thoughts? It is not in there now, but we could add it. It would be pretty easy to set it for the 1 pass after set $group command was issued, but I'm not sure that is what you want. Can you give me an example of how you want to use it? > Also, does the state_now value for individual items get updated > if they are > changed from an external (to mh) source? Yes, except if you use an all on/off command for a house code. I plan on adding an event in the next release that will keep individual items in sync with all on/off events. > If someone used a remote to turn on a > light I do not want mh shutting it back off. You shoule be able to code your event to detect if someone manually turned something on, and disable mh from turning it off. |

I am just about to move to a new house so I get to start my automation stuff all over again. I would like to replace the hawkeye motion sensors with wired sensors for greater reliability and less battery changes. Does anyone have any recommendations for wired motion sensors, both inside and outside. The home I am moving to has a security system with one motion sensor now and a contact switch on every door and window. I plan to cancel the monitoring service that the current owners have and just try to use the existing sensors in the house hooked up to some weeder boards or something like that. Hi, I use 4 wireless cams from x10.com and mh to check on the house from the net. I've played around with this setup and live video using cu-seeme (you can find the free version on the web)...the cool part is you get live video and sound, but unfortunately no storage of images. I have also tried some web cam software to upload images to a server on a time schedule and that works pretty well. For now, my MH is just used to switch between the x10 cams remotely. What would be really cool is if mh could control the web cam software itself and change the rate images are taken. That way on detecting motion, mh could switch the appropriate cam to take more frames/second and email the shots to you. I only looked in the console area of the store. We saw a ton of DVD players, CD players of every type, and even some "digital audio" machines which were definitely not it. the guy I asked about it had never heard of it. maybe I will spend tomorrow driving around the SF Bay Area to all of the Best Buys, looking for them. I just want to make sure that they are all that they seem to be, right? I wonder what will happen if I try to push IR from one remote to the other... hrmm... I guess if there is a perl module being written for them, it can't be that bad. rob ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://webapps.myinternetplace.net/imp |

I just upgraded from mh 2.34 to 2.59 (never installed the intermediate versions) I have three minor problems probably caused by something I neglected to do in my upgrade. None are a big deal, but probably things that can be easily identified by someone who knows a little about PERL and mh: 1. The tk PAUSE (F2) button doesn't work. I get the following message in the Misterhouse window: Tk::Error: Undefined subroutine &main::pause called at PERL2EXE_STORAGE/Tk.pm li ne 189. I get the following mesage in the Misterhouse window: Running: pgm=.\ args= Warning, run error: pgm_path=.\ - pgm= "F:\D\POWER\mh\bin\..\docs\index.html" error=Access is denied. 3. Luis, EIB is not supported as of today. I don't think anybody have access to E= IB today. The good thing with mh is that it is fully open and when someone n= eed support for a particular product they start write it with the help of the members of this list. I'm sure that when EIB is more common they there will be someone that pi= ck it up. For information: EIB stands for European Installation Bus and is a data = bus for controlling any kind of electrical equipment mostly over one pair of cable. The target is for the electrical installers instead of us hobbiest= s. More information is here www.eiba.org. Regards Roger ----- Original Message ----- From: "Luis M. Hello, since I was in similar situation, I will add to this discussion on EIB. EIB is standard solution, IMHO bit pricey and pretty "closed" to the outside world. So if you are willing to play with Misterhouse, then I bet you want open system, that would be as flexible as possible. In EIB, you will pay $$$ for solution, that will probably be hard to fit. Maybe one of the answers (if you're not willing to develope electronics by yourself - as I'm doing for my personal project) is Claudio Lanconelli project called CARACA with some modules being already developed and tested - and it's open source. Hope this helps a little bit, regards, Robert Rozman "Luis M. Arroyo Egoscozábal" je napisal: > Hello, I'm european, amd here we have AC like 220v/50Hz, and I don't be sure > that X10 works fine. After re-reading my prior post on this I don't think I made myself clear enough. I know MisterHouse can control the lights etc for me just fine. What I wanted or looking for is either a Program like ActiveHome or Perl Script for MisterHouse that allows me to clear the memory in the CM11 and then allow me to program my macros into it under windows XP Would be wonderful if I could do this all with commands from MisterHouse actually.. I just have not found the right example that clears cm11 memory and then resets cm11 clock and stores macros yet. Mike |
