I don't know about bar code integration with MH but you can buy a modded CueCat off ebay for less than $20. Its sometimes takes a couple of swipes but I like mine for the money. It convets the bars to ASCII, requires no drivers in any OS I've used it on, and just behaves like a second keyboards.
