I've made several waterproof sensors by soldering a DS18S20 onto telephone cable using small heat-shrink on the soldered leads just to prevent shorts. Then I mix a little epoxy and pour it into a short section of a large soda straw that has the bottom plugged or taped. I then slip the DS10S20 down into the epoxy and move it around slowly, just to help any air bubbles escape. After letting the epoxy is completely cured I peel the straw away.
