I actually just recently plugged in a few scripts that now let my mh computer (which controls the several ceiling speakers) receive airtunes audio from iTunes or iPod/iPhone/iPads. Some dude just hacked the protected key for airtunes and made a couple programs to let any computer (perl) be an airplay compatible receiver.

Google "shairtunes" and you'll get it. Ive been pretty happy with it so far - native streaming to mh from my iPhone is pretty awesome :)

I had briefly thought about it and priced a few on ebay.  Does that count ? :)

But I did notice that it appears pulseaudio has native support for airplay as there are airplay options in the pulseaudio config menus.

Has anyone thought of using airplay for announcing in MisterHouse?
The Airport express is pretty cheap (esp when bought with broken power
supplies and fixed, ~$20 :) and could be spread throughout a house.
They're individually addressable, music/speech could be sent to any/all
as needed.

Anyone dug up a linux to airport utility?
