    Hi

sorry for my bad english but I hope you undestand my sentences. I use Minidlna (version 1.0.24) at my raspberry pi as media server. Until now there was no problem if I have added new video or music files to the system. After rebuild of the database I has everytime access to the media files (ionotify parameter doesn't  work on my system)
Yesterday I want also add two new .mkv files but there is now way to see this files on the client site (Ipad and Samsung TV). I have more than one time rebuild the database and have checked the access rights of the files in the file system. In the Log file there is no error or warning message.

What can I do to resolve these problem ?

    Thanks for your support

    Bye

    Hi,

As far as i know minidlna has some problems with mkv (don't know if it supports them in any way).
You can try to Convert them in another video format, that should do the trick.

    Greetings

I don't think this is a file format issue because my other .mkv files will be listed normal on the client (and play). Nevertheless I can try to transcode the file.

    thx

hm .mkv media files can contains about any format, so it's possible ur client does not support this one.
Did u check if the database increased by 2 files after u added them?
u can check the content of ur database with:
    http://localhost:****
of if u want to access it not directly from your server:
    http://server-ip:****
(**** is the port you specified in your config file, default is 8200)
if the db increased by 2 files, i would guess it has to do with your client

Because the number of files was everytime the same I have started the progam in the debug mode. Here I can see my issue but I don't know really a solution. After the program start the file scan stops everytime at a normal *.VOB file. I'm sure that's the file is not corrupt or have otherwise special encoding. If I remove the whole folder with this file the media scan work fine and all of my new files will be listed. The output form the debug is the following :

inotify.c:695: debug: The directory /automnt/usb/Video/Disco in der Scheune was moved here.
inotify.c:458: info: Added watch to /automnt/usb/Video/Disco in der Scheune

      metadata.c:853: debug: Container: 'mpeg'
      metadata.c:962: debug: Stream 0 of VTS_07_1.VOB is 720x576 MPEG2 PS

What meaning "max_analyze_duration reached" ? Is this as parameter what I can set higher or is this a program issue. In my opinion the program should work forward and not stop in a case of file scan problem.

Thanks again for your help !

    Hi,

nobody knows why the file scan hangs ? Is it possible that the messages is comming from the ffmpeg package/library ? What can I also analyze ?

    thx
