my Samsung D-series TV is not able to show subtitles when they are embedded in MKV files (both as text or VOBSUB tracks).
Those subs show just fine locally when using mplayer & totem (on Linux).

Is there another server where they work when embedded in you MKV files? This really should depend solely on the TV.

    Hey :)

    Samsung UE32C6200.

Ripped .mkv with MakeMKV with all languages/subtitles:
I cannot change or enable any subtitle if played over minidlna.

    Can someone confirm it?

    Using latest CSV of mDLNA.

I had the same problem with MakeMKV and subtitles ( I think on my sony bravia it even refused to play ...), but placing the subtitle in the same folder with the same name worked ...

  • I can confirm this issue for my Samsung UE40D8000 with MiniDLNA 1.0.25. An extracted .srt file works; the embedded subtitle is not seen by the TV (Including the latest firmware: 1027.1 from 2013.02.25). Audio and Video plays fine.

Cannot confirm it working on the TV using another DLNA server. Can anyone recommend one, other than miniDLNA?
