After installing MinGw, I tried to test the avaliablity of the GNU C compiler in the administrator command prompt by typing gcc -v
However it I get the same message each time:
'gcc' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable programe or batch file.
I don't know where the problem is as I have added the location to the system path..
Has anyone had similar problems or have any advice?
Thank you!

Obviously you did not get GCC installed for some reason. Try the following command and if it doesn't help please take the issue to mingw-users@lists.sourceforge.net for support.

    mingw-get install --reinstall gcc

More likely, she did get it installed, but forgot to add the c:\mingw\bin directory to the PATH.

I made a typo in the directory path. It's working now. Thank you!
