So, you've pulled it from the GDB source tree? Using it
out of context, like this, is likely to lead to a variety
of dependency problems. You could, however, use it as a
model for implementing your own alternative, provided you
honour its licencing stipulations: if you distribute a
derivative, you must do so under GPL v2 or later; (of
course, this would also apply, if you were able to deploy
it without modification, in your own project).

Not in any form you would be likely to find useful, AFAIK.
It might be worth looking to see if gnulib offers anything
which might suit; it would also be GPL or LGPL.
