There are two ways: 1) You can list the functions you want to export in a .def
file and provide that at link time to gcc. Then only those functions will be
exported. As .def files are used on Win32 only, you will have to figure out
some way to get conditionals into your Makefile. If using auto*, you can use
AM_CONDITIONAL in your configure.ac to define an Automake conditional, then
test that in Makefile.am.
Or, 2) you can mark the functions you want to export with __declspec(dllexport)
in the source code. This is perhaps a bit ugly, and you obviously need to hide
it by some macro that expands to empty on Unix.
Neither of this solution is the same on Windows and Unix, though.
