My msys installation has GNU Make version 3.79.1.
When I try to build recent versions of the freetype library I get:
$ ./configure --disable-shared --enable-static
builds/toplevel.mk:43: *** FreeType's build system needs a Make program
which supports $(value). Stop.
I'm guessing that this means I need a later version of make. Is there
somewhere from where I can readily download a later version of make for msys
I dug up
(which, it was claimed, would provide make-3.80 for msys), but it just
which didn't contain anything afaict. (Besides, the "OldFiles" was a bit

Then you must have a very old version of MSYS.
``mingw-get install msys-make'' will install the newer version of make
and maybe some other dependencies. But I suggest you do ``mingw-get
install msys'' to get a current version of MSYS.
