I am trying to build the most recent make v3.82 on XP and am running
into an issue.
I pulled the source from mingw's sourceforge page (tarball is
Following the directions in README.W32 I copied the template
config.h.w32 to config.h and edited to include
#define HAVE_CASE_INSENSITIVE_FS 1
Next I try and build with gcc using the cmd 'build_w32.bat gcc' and get
gcc: job.o: No such file or directory
gcc: sub_proc.o: No such file or directory
Back further in the output we see that sub_proc.o and job.o didn't get
build because of this error:
C:\Downloads\mingw\make-3.82\w32\subproc>gcc -mthreads -Wall -gdwarf-2
-g3 -O2 -I.. -I. -I../include -I../.. -DWINDOWS32 -c sub_proc.c -o
In file included from sub_proc.c:24:0:
error: duplicate 'unsigned'
error: 'long long long' is too long for GCC
Not sure what that message is all about. This is a virgin install of
MinGW. Never has it been installed on this machine before. I used the
command line installer to install gcc. i.e. ' mingw-get install gcc'
The only unique thing is that I installed somewhere other than the
canonical location. Instead of the install root being c:\mingw I
installed in c:\raleigh\mingw.
I have adjusted my PATH variable accordingly.
gcc (GCC) 4.5.2

Well, this is not exactly the solution, but i've attached the
buildscript for mingw-make.
It requires full msys environment (with msys-bash, msys-make, msys-wget,
mingw-autotools and such)
Unpack, in bash cd into the directory where unpacked contents are, run
