I see that the mingw.org website is still down. Is it ever going to come back up? Is there a backup? |

The server was cracked so badly that support can't get logged into it and must rebuild the VHOST. I will inform this list when the site is back online. But information may have been lost depending on data backup. -- Earnie -- http://www.for-my-kids.com |

We had been discussing moving our code repo hosting away from sourceforge, and you preferred networksolutions (our existing mingw.org hosting provider) over sourceware.org. In light of this, I'm not sure that's a good idea...unless the problem was in *our* configuration of the software running in our vm instance. E.g. a drupal exploit or something? 'Course, if they can't get into the old instance, a post-mortem analysis will be rather difficult so we may never know what exactly went wrong. -- Chuck |

Sure it may have been the a drupal exploit. The data loss will be a result of backup schedule. -- Earnie -- http://www.for-my-kids.com |

I have to download the modules that were being used by Drupal and do the upgrade pieces. I don't know the amount of time I'll have to work on it but it is certainly near the top position of my time slot after normal work flow and the tax data gathering sessions. There is an IP address change which I'll communicate here once the DNS updates have been made. -- Earnie -- http://www.for-my-kids.com |

There will be PHP warnings displayed on the oldwiki.mingw.org pages due to the software not being PHP 5.3 compliant. Since that data is used for reference only, I am not going to spend more time trying to resolve the issue; instead I'll spend time getting any data not on the primary site moved and then removing the oldwiki software. The Drupal software was updated to the most recent versions of both the core module and the added modules. You may modify your hosts file to map the www.mingw.org name to IP 68.233.5.224 and then I suggest if you do modify it once the DNS is updated you remove the entry. -- Earnie -- http://www.for-my-kids.com |

The http://www.mingw.org and http://oldwiki.mingw.org sites are available once again. Allow time for all DNS records to be updated giving at least 24 hours before complaining about not being able to reach the site. The site IP address is 68.233.5.224 and if you cannot ping that address then you will need to look on your side of the wall to determine why. Regards, Earnie |
