As has been discussed before, these do not belong in the Mingw runtime
as they are not ANSI. I've been considering an libminiberty library
that could contain something of this nature I suppose. The license for
any code added to libminiberty as well as any code added to the MinGW
runtime has to be "license virus" free. I coined "license free" phrase
to mean any license that put restrictive requirements as to the license
I use for my product or requirements of advertisement.

I suggest you try to get the code added to GPC for inclusion in the main
