List, I am considering moving forward with the Drupal installation on the mingw.org site. My plan will be to leave the existing MinGWiki in place. Once we have the main site up and functioning we can look at using Drupal for the wiki. This can be accomplished by programmatic procedure but I need someone to be willing to spend some time learning the Drupal API, the MediaWiki subset of the PEAR Wiki module and the phpwiki DB to convert the existing data. Willing participants for the MinGWiki conversion please respond to this post say so. I will rename the existing htdocs directory to old so that it will remain as http://www.mingw.org/old. This will give an easy historical view of the data. I also need trusted participants to be content maintainers. If you're willing to help maintain content please respond to this post say so. An icon and small logo graphic can also be applied. If any of you wish to claim to be an artist and give MinGW a small logo graphic and an icon graphic speak up. Otherwise we will continue to live without one. Earnie |

Hi, What are the exact responsibilities for content maintainers? I've been using MSYS/MingW for more than a year now, and I like to contribute something back in return. I'm new to Drupal, but I would like to help maintain content. thanks. |

Does this mean we will abandon Jason Craig's proposed theme entirely? IIRC, there was concern that his overall page layout wasted too much vertical space, but I quite liked his logo design, if that could be adapted to fit within the current default layout. The text should remain controlled by the theme, IMO. There were also other things wrong with the Jason's theme that we never ironed out. I found another theme that I have at the old http://www.mingw.org/cms if you want to look. Earnie |

Do you mean the "MinGW" heading, (which IIRC Jason had displayed in a striking font; maybe Garamond or similar, I think), and the accompanying "Minimalist GNU for Windows" subheading? I liked Jason's logo for it's striking, and dare I say "minimalist" simplicity; totally consistent with the project philosophy. The only issue I had with it was, perhaps, that it occupied too much space. > The text should remain controlled by the theme, IMO. To protect it from modification, resulting from substitution of the site style sheet? Why not encapsulate it in a PNG graphic, scale it to an appropriate size, and deploy it as an iconic logo? > There were also other things wrong with the Jason's theme that we > never ironed out. Two which spring to mind:-- 1) the wasted space, especially vertical space; 2) unsatisfactory display of nested menu items, within the left navigation pane. > I found another theme that I have at the old http://www.mingw.org/cms > if you want to look. I've seen it thanks. It looks clean, and resolves the above issues, I think, but it too uses text in place of a logo, and IMO, it lacks the impact of Jason's text based logo. If we can adopt this theme, but add a logo something similar to Jason's, suitably scaled, and perhaps in the form of an image encapsulated in a PNG, then I think that would be a good basis on which to proceed. Just my two pennies. Regards, Keith. |

Perhaps someone has run across this before. I'm porting a support library from unix to windows (i'm somewhat new to windows driver development). I'm needing to substitute KeQuerySystemTime (since I'm using MinGW, and KeQuerySystemTime is defined in a header). I was able to determine from the header file the mechanism for accessing the data. However, I believe the pointer dereferencing is a problem. The system is a 32 bit system and windows debugger shows 'ptr64 FALSE'. So, code like the following does not work. Instead the top 16 bits are truncated. uint64_t *ptr = 0xFFFFF780000000014ULL; uint64_t value = 0; value = *ptr; Any ideas? |

I'll give it a go with the GIMP. What size, in pixels, should I aim for? Regards, Keith. |
