I'm new to MinGW and have picked up the latest stable releases from
Sourceforge and installed as described extracting
gcc, binutils, libbfd and ld into a newly created directory. I then updated
my autoexec.bat as described to include the new directory as the first
directory in my PATH.
The output from gcc -v I get is as follows ...
Using builtin specs.
gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
I then typed in the obligatory hello, world program and compiled it OK via
gcc -c hworld.c
... however, when I come to
gcc -o hworld hworld.o
... I get ...
GCC.EXE: installation problem, cannot exec `ld': Invalid argument
... preceeded by a Norton Utilities Client Express window popping up (which
is presumably what actually gets exec'd by gcc rather than ld).
I have had a good look through the mailing list to see if anyone has had
this or a similar problem but I've not found anything that helps. Anyone got
any ideas ?
Any help much appreciated.
