I've requested a sandbox of the upgrade to SF's new Allura system so we can play with it. The tracker data is moved to the new system; which I don't like as well as the old but is adequate. The git repository is moved to a new URL. The sandboxed data will be scrapped and not used for the production update. I'll give links to the sandbox once I have it. -- Earnie -- https://sites.google.com/site/earnieboyd |

The sandbox has been updated with the a recent repository version of the code; it looks much better now. I'm thinking this change will be released on Jan 11th based on the ticket data that fixed some of the ugliness. http://sf-tvansteenburgh-7025.sb.sf.net/projects/mingw/ -- Earnie -- https://sites.google.com/site/earnieboyd |

The spaces is just for the display. The actual names are with the dash and case preserved. I assume we can modify the names with the admin account. -- Earnie -- https://sites.google.com/site/earnieboyd |

I tried, some time ago, in my own personal SF project space, and couldn't get rid of the corrupt display names. -- Regards, Keith. |

I think it is time we upgrade before they do it for us. I believe the git URI paths will differ so we'll need to modify the cloned repositories to point to the new URI. If you think we're ready, then yes; my principal residual concern was the corruption of package names in the web menus, but I guess we can live with that. Remapping of repository clones should be as simple as an edit of the local meta-data. For hg it's the "default" line in .hg/hgrc; I don't know what the git equivalent is, but I guess it's similar. -- Regards, Keith. |

For hg it's the "default" line in > .hg/hgrc; I don't > know what the git equivalent is, but I guess it's similar. The git equivalent is .git/config (and the '[remote "origin"]' section therein); for those who are less comfortable with editing the file direct, the same effect can be more or less achieved by doing "git remote rename ...", then "git remote add ..." and "git remote remove .." - I would probably suggest renaming the old and adding the new, then delete the old, for the safest way of doing it. The "git branch -d/-D/-m/-M/-r" options (for deleting/moving local or remote branches) are probably also useful. Hope this helps. |
