OK, I See that point _IF_ the project is not sufficiently organized to provide that relationship... but it seems like an opportunity rather than an obstacle: If resources are scarce and folks using the product want support then there is a natural opportunity for trade there... and as is done with many successful free/open projects, such a customer should be able to purchase a support subscription or per-ticket support to drive the project forward. It's a pretty successful model. Maybe it's time to put something like that together here.
