Yes, sftp works much better for uploading large files to SF. I have some rather large files (for a different project) which can take a few hours to upload and I just upload them before using 'rename' to move them about. AFAIK the limitation to the web interface is not entirely SF's fault. I seem to recall an Apache web server setting or some such for dropping connections if something takes longer than 15-minutes or 30 minutes (the default value) which affects file uploads. It has been a while since I config/admin a web server, but most people don't look at those settings and/or just leave them at defaults. |
