Our packaging heuristics have come a long way thanks to Keith Marshall, et alia but we still have older packages that do not follow them and it is easy to not get correct for newer packages. Primarily if the package is gdb-7.0.tar.gz or similar then you can expect both binary, libraries and headers from gdb. If the package is gdb-7.0-bin.tar.gz then you can expect only the binaries in the file. Note my sample naming is simplistic for example only and may be more involved especially concerning the differences between mingw and msys packaging. -- Earnie |
