Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to MinGW. My deeper goal is to get gcc 4.? running under Windows. As far as I understand (the gcc help pages) I first need gmp. But gmp 4.2.1 won't compile. This is what I did: * I installed MinGW 5.0.3, which downloaded (and installed, I assume) gcc-ada, -core, -g++, -g77, -java and -objc 3.4.2. Further binutils 2.15.91, mingw32-make 3.80.0, mingw-runtime 3.10 and w32api 3.7. I didn't touch any settings during setup (hence it installed into "C:\MinGW") * Then MSys 1.0.10, which installed itself into "C:\MSys\1.0". In the DOS-Box after the setup I gave him the directory "C:/MinGW" so the fstab was created. * I renamed make to mingw32-make so that "make --version" at the msys-prompt gives version "3.80". Do I need something else to build gmp ? * I copied "gmp-4.2.1.tar.gz" into "C:\msys\1.0\home\Administrator" and extracted it with "tar xzvf gmp-4.2.1.tar.gz". * Then "./configure --prefix=/mingw" (I found this prefix-thing on some web pages. I don't know what it exactly does. But I also tried without - with the same result). This works fine... * But "make" then gives this: (only the last few lines) ------------------------------------------ C:\MinGW\bin\make.exe[2]: Entering directory `C:/msys/1.0/home/Administrator/gmp-4.2.1/mpn' C:/msys/1.0/bin/sh.exe ../libtool --mode=compile --tag=CC ../mpn/m4-ccas --m4="m4" gcc -c -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -D__GMP_WITHIN_GMP -I.. -DOPERATION_`echo add_n | sed 's/_$//'` -m32 -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -mtune=i386 -march=i386 -mno-cygwin `test -f 'add_n.asm' || echo './'`add_n.asm ../mpn/m4-ccas "--m4=m4 gcc" -c -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -D__GMP_WITHIN_GMP -I.. -DOPERATION_add_n -m32 -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -mtune=i386 -march=i386 -mno-cygwin add_n.asm -o add_n.o m4 gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -D__GMP_WITHIN_GMP -DOPERATION_add_n add_n.asm >tmp-add_n.s m4: gcc: No such file or directory -c -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -D__GMP_WITHIN_GMP -I.. -DOPERATION_add_n -m32 -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -mtune=i386 -march=i386 -mno-cygwin tmp-add_n.s -o add_n.o ../mpn/m4-ccas: -c: command not found C:\MinGW\bin\make.exe[2]: *** [add_n.lo] Error 1 C:\MinGW\bin\make.exe[2]: Leaving directory `C:/msys/1.0/home/Administrator/gmp-4.2.1/mpn' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `C:/msys/1.0/home/Administrator/gmp-4.2.1' C:\MinGW\bin\make.exe: *** [all] Error 2 ------------------------------------------ Does anyone know what that means? Has anyone successfully build gmp 4.2.1 with MinGW? I'm using a fresh W2kSP4 installation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sorry for my crappy english.
