I've written several Open Source applications for windows, and a common request that I get is to create 'project' files for them (I distribute Makefiles). The problem I have with most of the 'project' files created by the IDE's I've played with (I haven't tested them all), is that they are far from optimized and seem to prefer using hard coded paths as opposed to relative ones (which tends to be a problem if you want to distribute them).
