Thanks for the reply. I hope I am addressing you properly. I have cc'd this to the mingw-
users list as it is "on topic" for Mingw and Msys.

Hmm...methinks that is because very few people know that there is anyone working on
this sort of thing.
Personally, I certainly had no idea, until you told me, that anyone was doing anything in
terms of a Mingw runtime based gdb that does have a Windows interface ("gdb -w..."
enabled). I am aware of the Cygwin version of Insight, and it works, to a degree, based on
tk/tcl. It is just that Cygwin is not Mingw.
In terms of the question of "are other people wanting or willing to support it", I think the
answer is "yes" if it is being maintained and hosted by something like sf.net. Something of
the complexity of Insight is not an easy thing to maintain away from a host such as sf.net.
I do acknowledge your hesitancy in terms of building anything for a Windows based OS.
Using something like Msys, however, would minimize the difficulties involved with your
basic builds as things like Msys are not really "Unix".
This last seems quite true if any part of what qualifies something, eg. a development
environment, as "Officially Unix" is "the degree of Posix support included with something
such as Msys.".
