hey just tried MinGW 1.1, and got: GCC.EXE: installation problem, cannot exec 'cpp0': No such file or directory this looks like the XP installation problem mentioned in this list, only I got it on WIN 98. so I looked at the W95 patch, but it doesn't fit version 1.1 since the patch is compiled for gcc 2.95.3-4, while MinGW 1.1 uses gcc2.95.3-6 (and so the whole --print-search-dirs gets messed up). after alot of headache I found out that adding [MinGW_path]\lib\gcc-lib\mingw32\2.95.3-6 to the PATH environment variable fix this. my conclusion is that either the search paths are ignored because of the backslashes (and so cpp0 cannot be found), or the gcc for some reason is trying to run cpp0 without using it's path, thus making it look to the shell like a command. if the first case is true, the W95 patch should have an updated verion for MinGW 1.1. if the second one is true, then I don't know the sources good enough to have a solution. on the other hand I'm just a beginner on this list, so if anyone knows of a good solution I missed, I'll be happy to hear. -- ofer -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup Get 4 DVDs for $.49 cents! plus shipping & processing.
