A program compiles and works pretty well using mingw/msys/gcc.However, when I drag and drop a file from a windows folder that’s a samba drive on a linux system, the C call to open() fails.

The file name is something like: \\\\zaz1\\tftpboot\\dave\\dave_cap5.ts. And access is O_RDONLY.

And that file is accessible by other programs with a drag and drop.

Local files work fine (ones with “c:\\name”).

Any simple way to get this to work?

Standard operating procedure would be to see what is the minimal program that reproduce that behaviour, and post that code if possible. Otherwise you'll be waiting for that to be a frequent problem.
