I've followed the instructions on http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mingw-w64/wiki/Native%20Win64%20compiler to build the native windows 64 bit compilers. I have both g++ and x86_64-w64-mingw32-g++ in the bin folder. Are there any differences between them? In addition, I do not have x86_64-w64-mingw32-ar, did i miss out a step? or will x86_64-w64-mingw32-ar be the same as ar?
For a native compiler, binutils (ld, ar, objdump, nm, etc…) are unprefixed. This is intended and good.
Likewise, for a native compiler, GCC executables exist in a non-prefixed form, but for compatibility with some autotools stuff, there are copies of gcc, g++, etc.. in the form of <triplet>-gcc, <triplet-g++, etc… Both are identical.
