When configured from the subdirectory 'mingw-w64-headers' with './configure --host=x86_64-w64-mingw32 --prefix=$CROSS_DIR', and 'make install' is run, the trunk does not correctly copy the headers to $CROSS_DIR/x86_64-w64-mingw32 like the last release does. The CRT is similarly broken, causing the GCC build to fail unless '--prefix=$CROSS_DIR/x86_64-w64-mingw32' is given to both the header configuration and the CRT config.

Trunk behavior has been changed quite some time ago, and was done intentionally.

How is it supposed to be built, then? Why are none of the docs updated?

Yes, the docs need updating, there are a few on my list already.
Please post the URL for the docs you are referring to, in case I do not have it on my list.
