Hi, I am new to using MikTex. I am using MikTeX 2.4 and WinEdt. I need to cite mulitple references within a () such as (Smith, 2000; Johnson, 2001). Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? \cite puts parathenses around the one citation. Thanks, Dean __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo! First of all, the standard package for citation is natbib, which I strongly recommend using. (Put \usepackage{natbib} in your preamble.) Then just \citep{firstkey,secondkey} hth, Alan Isaac |

Thanks Alan, I assume that your talking about the \usepackage{natbib} in the main.tex document at the front. Many thanks, Dean --- Alan G Isaac <ai...@am...> wrote: > On Wed, 26 May 2004, Dean Riley apparently wrote: > > I need to cite mulitple references within a () > > such as (Smith, 2000; Johnson, 2001). > > First of all, the standard package for citation is > natbib, > which I strongly recommend using. This is maybe a question that is easy for you to answer, so please answer it if you know: I am using 'report' as documentclass, but I don't want to have chapters as headings, but the titles of my Sections as headings in stead. I want to have a style like this: Abstract Acknowledgements List of Papers Contents Introduction Theory Methods etc.. where inside the report, the headings will be: 1. Introduction 2. Theory not: Chapter 1 Introduction Chapter 2 Theory Is it better to chose another documentclass for this, or is it only a matter of how you define your style in the document? wibeke |

Hi, Well, to avoid the chapter or section numeration, it is common to use the star symbol like: \chapter*{A chapter} \section*{A section} However, you need some more sophisticated, so I recommend you to use the titletoc and titlesec packages, their documentation is available at internet, please look for it in google.com. Best regards Wibeke Nordhøy wrote: > This is maybe a question that is easy for you to answer, so please > answer it if you know: > > I am using 'report' as documentclass, but I don't want to have > chapters as headings, but the titles of my Sections as headings in stead. > > I want to have a style like this: > > Abstract > Acknowledgements > List of Papers > > Contents > Introduction > Theory > Methods > etc.. > > where inside the report, the headings will be: > 1.
