I have written an open source program which uses pdflatex to produce a
printable output. For Windows computers the program checks whether the
command pdflatex is available and if not it downloads and starts the
27MB MiKtex small setup. Since the file name changes with every new
release I have too parse the HTML text at the MiKtex site to find out
the current file name. However, when the Web site changes this fails
and I get complaints from the users.
MY QUESTION: is there somewhere
an URL that does not change and that always holds the newest small
MiKtex setup ? Something like setup_current.exe ?
Or would you recommend to change to Cygwin since the cygwin setup.exe
has an URL that does not change? Do you have experiences with pdflatex
in Cygwin ?
