After several months of living with MiKTeX 2.4 ( due to some font finding
difficulties with YaP 2.5), I installed 2.7 without uninstalling 2.4. I
then added the (2.4) \localtexmf and \texmf as Root directories.
It works -- Christian Schenk was clever enough to do something so that my
batch files in \texmf\Winedt\bin use the executables in C:\Program
Files\MiKTeX 2.7\miktex\bin and I can use a weird font in \localtexmf.
Thanks to this list, I also learned how to add a package -- the trick is to
"refresh file name database."
