I've installed MiKTeX 2.6 on a Spanish machine (only for the user USER).
MiKTeX uses, apart from the main instalation tree (C:\Archivos de
programa ...), two local trees:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Archivos de programa\MiKTeX\2.6\ ...
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Configuracion local\Archivos de
and I got a problem when trying to install my new fonts in the tree
which includes the folder 'Configuracion local'. It was due to the
accented second 'o' in the word 'Configuracion'. Both programs 'updmap'
and 'initexmf --mkmaps', running on the command line, gave messagge
errors referring to that accented 'o'. It happened when those programs
were trying to create a new 'localfonts.conf ' file.
I was obliged to install my own \fonts folder in a new local tree
created ad hoc, with folders without accented names. Now it works. Is
that a bug?
