I'm adapting a script that was piping latex generated on the fly to the latex process. Oh, I see the issue is the initial \relax. Why is it that latex --jobname=foo \relax \documentclass{article}\begin{document}abc\end{document} creates texput.dvi in MikTeX, but foo.dvi in TeX Live?
