Best regards André Well you are not saying where you substituated the \providecommand, you are not saying what errors you get, you are not showing your .bst, you haven't made minimal examples that demonstrates your problem, you are not saying which versions of natbib and bibtex (? did you mean biblatex?) you are using and you didn't provide a link to the old natbib-version.
