I had similar problems when I shifted from 2.4 to 2.5 in October 2006. I got error messages from both YaP and dvipdfm -- as well as strange printing behavior. MiKTeX 2.5+ uses "mgs" (MiKTeX Ghostscript) rather than a locally installed Ghostscript and the included fontmap files (in at least early versions) included a fontmap.miktex which referred to locations for various fonts which were not included in the initial installation of 2.5+. Most of my problems were resolved by using the package manager to install times, helvetica, ... and any other font available. In particular, the directory structure for the urw fonts was changed and most applications which produce your postscript will need helvetica, etc Best regards, Jeff E. Lewis Prof. Jeff E.
