I use the following code to try to include a graph ( .ps file) in my latex docuements.  It works in unix environment but it doesn't work with MikTex.  I wonder why.

\begin{figure}[htb]
\label{indiff}
\centering
\includegraphics[scale=2]{image1.ps}
\caption{Renegotiation-proof compensation }
\end{figure}

When I run the command pdflatex, I got the following error message:
LaTeX Warning: File `image1.ps' not found on input line 1604.
! LaTeX Error: Unknown graphics extension: .ps.

I did include  \usepackage{graphicx,calc} in preamble.  If .ps file can't be inlcuded directly, what types of files can?  And why is there a difference when the same document run in unix and with miktex?  Thank you,

Yiming
