Hi, My friend has a file that once compiled in Miktex, but no longer. Here is
a minimal version:
\documentclass{beamer}
%\usepackage{beamerthemesplit}
%\usepackage{beamerthemeshadow}
\usepackage{amsmath}
\usepackage{amssymb}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\usepackage{tikz}
\begin{document}
\title{What Could Be More Natural?}
\author{BC Calculus}
\date{\today} % started on Friday, August 19, 2011
\maketitle
\frame{\titlepage}
\frame{
\frametitle{Table of contents}
\tableofcontents}
% ###################################
\section{The Natural Numbers}
\frame{\frametitle{The Natural Numbers}
We denote the set $ {1, 2, 3, \ldots } $ of all \textbf{natural numbers} by
$\mathbb{N}$. The elements of $\mathbb{N}$ are also called \emph{positive
integers}.
\vspace{10pt}
Each natural number $n$ has a successor, namely $n+1$.
}
\end{document}
Even thought we updated miktex via the admin update manager, we get this error
when we try to compile the above file:
Running ttf2pk.exe...
miktex-makepk: PK font mathkerncmssi8 could not be created.
LaTeX Font Warning: Size substitutions with differences
(Font) up to 1.0pt have occurred.
)
!pdfTeX error: miktex-pdftex.exe (file mathkerncmssi8): Font mathkerncmssi8
at
600 not found
==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced!
When we add the lines:
\usepackage{sansmathaccent}
\pdfmapfile{+sansmathaccent.map}
Then it compiles. Very weird. We did some googling and saw some discussion
about confusion over updmap and updamap-sys and removing a local version of
pdftex.map, but could not find the file on the system.
So, can anyone help us reconfigure his system so we can get this file to
compile without adding the extra two lines?
Thanks.
David.
