    Hi,

I have adapted a cls file for our own use and saved it in program files/miktex
    2.8/tex/latex/mypackage/mypackage.cls

When I pdflatex it error appears that Miktex can't find mypackage.cls

I refresh FNDB and same problem occurs.

Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

Don't put your local files in the main texmf tree. Use a local user tree
    http://docs.miktex.org/2.8/manual/localadditions.html

If you insist to use the main tree, you will have to update the FNDB with the
    --admin switch.

    HI Ulrike,

Thanks for your help but just in relation to saying "If you insist to use the
main tree, you will have to update the FNDB with the --admin switch", the
actual issue is that I can't write to any file in the main tree, no
permission, even though I have administrator (power user?) rights! Maybe it is
a Windows 7 issue not a MiKTeX issue. Anyhow, yuor suggestion of a local user
    tree works fine..
