Today I've update the miktex to the latest version (update all packages using the Update(Admin)). However, the syntax coloring is no longer effective anymore. I'm running win 8.1. Are there anyone has the same issue?

I am having the same issue. I ran the update yesterday on my Win7 laptop and syntax coloring and spell checking stopped working. I then tried it on my desktop and the same thing happened. Since MikTeX doesn't provide anyway to undo an update, my only choices are to reinstall all of miktex or to install a separate copy of texworks, or to live without syntax highlighting until this gets fixed. Since I have no idea if fixing this will take a few days or a few weeks or a few months or a few years, this makes me uncertain what the best thing to do is. If it will just take a few days, I'm happy to wait. If not, I'm willing to apply workarounds. But the uncertainty is no fun at all.
