Addendum for MGEN 1.5 available for download

Dear MGEN/PARIS users (programmers),

as a minor update we have put some missing files and minimal fixes as mgen_addendum_050429.tgz into the MGEN package. If you encountered problems during "make", you might want to add those to your installation.
This should fix nearly all open bugs listed below.

Hope that helps
Jrgen & Volker

1161423 mgen/1.5/src/HSH/doc/todo is missing
1161413 mgen/1.5/src/mgen2/man/header is missing
1161393 mgen/1.5/src/gt/Makefile: file gt-pro.ps is missing
1153743 mgen/1.5/src/lib/Makefile calls mkdep with absolute path
1153480 mgen/1.5/src/l.v56/llconv.h is missing
1150879 mgen2/doc/Makefile: dvips pipes output to printer

MGEN 1.5 now available, MANIAC included

After introducing PARIS as part of this project in 1.4,
we now also included MANIAC, a very flexible graphic
viewer for numerical data (e.g. from SPICE or
commercial simulators) and many (mostly internal)
improvements and bug fixes.
Similar to the other parts of this project, MANIAC is
based on years of experience and has now been put
under GPL -- Thanks to Martin Gerbershagen.

Enjoy,
Volker

Documentation for PARIS

... did I say, "no polished Manual"?

To calm down our bad conscience and some friendly
complaints, we took some effort to dig out all
docs we could get hold of, and - voil - we even
found an english PARIS User's Guide (at that time
written by AISS -- we will try to get hold of
the TeX sources). But still, several documents
are slightly outdated (i.e. newer functions are
missing) and/or only available in German.... read more

1.4 Release now available, PARIS included

Finally, we succeeded to upload the source and
some binary versions of release 1.4.

Besides the Layout Module Generator Environment
MGEN, it now also includes the PARIS layout
editor and accompanying utilities such as
the hierarchical comparison tool LAYDI and
the boolean operation server MERGED (released
to use with GPL by AISS, now PDF-Solutions).

Main drawback is probably the lack of state-
of-the-art documentation for PARIS & Co.
("only" Unix manual pages for all commands,
but no polished tutorial ...). Some in-depth documentations on isolated topics (in German)
can be found in mgen.tgz (v5/doc/paris.ps).
If you have questions, we might be able to
help you via the support tracker.... read more

PARIS under GPL

Atmel management has finally agreed to donate
the layout editor PARIS to the open source
community on May 9th. We will finish to adapt
the source code distribution and to remove
the licencing mechanism, hopefully in time for
the MGEN 1.4 release. Meanwhile, please contact
me, if you need access to PARIS.

1.3 Release now available

Although work on the 1.4 version is nearly
finished, we decided to release the 1.3
version to give Cadence users access to the
autoabutment feature (basic support built-in,
additional features need to overload a Skill
callback function, cf. generators/abutment.il).

Other people might as well continue with 1.2
until 1.4 is available. But, as always, quality
assurance, package & handling needs some time ...
