I did a recursive search over an iTunes library (on my Windows partition) and the m4a files were recognized but missing the metadata. (Everything was in the Unknown folder.)

I noticed there's an XML document at the same level as the parent directory which contains metadata for the tunes - Track ID, Name, Artist, Composer, Album, Genre, etc., plus Location (complete path to the audio file)

Any chance of adding support to importing this data?

P.S. - I notice this XML file also contains several named playlists.

I'd have to look at it, but it's possible that this could be done by writing an own playlist parser script; playlist support will appear in the next release, it's implemented via js scripting so it should be possible
for the user to add parsing of any ASCII based playlist file.

To be honest I am not a fan of Apple and all their products starting with a small 'i', so this feature is not
really on top of the list :> I guess I'll have to force myself to do it some day if enough people keep complaining :)

Support for mp4 metadata is now available via the libmp4v2 library, of course this is not the parsing of the XML, but if your m4a files have metadata in them, then they should be sorted by folders same way as mp3 files. Embedded cover art is now also supported, the code is in SVN.
