I have tried to use the web API to add Live Tv channels accessible via a VDR + streamdev setup on the machine were the video recorded is also served via mediatomb. I can do vlc http://machineName:3000/T-8442-5-1281.ts for exemple to see a specific channel. I have added a container called Live TV and an object with a name (TV1) an external URL (equal to http://machineName:3000/T-8442-5-1281.ts) and a mime type equal to video/mpeg. If I browse using xbmc, I see the container and the item but cannot play correctly the mpeg2ts stream. Vlc can play the stream using a .M3U containing the same URL. Any hint?
Reply to myself. Comparing didl using gupnp-av-control (cidero web site is down), I forgot to add videoitem to object.item. Once done, it worked.
What docs and info did you use to get this working? I have a mythtv box with an analogue tuner connected to a cable box and would like to watch live TV via VLC
Well, read the page about the web UI. It explains how to add item manually. Now, for VLC, that another story as the DLNA support is rather weak and the GUI even worse. I use XBMC.
