Debian 6.0 - LG 42LE5550 - Subtitles Ignored

Help

  • Hello

    First of all, i want to let anyone who might try to help me that transcoding is not possible with the LE5550 from LG. Their DLNA implementation sucks, and its only certified for IMAGES, no sound, no video. Any attempt to transcode CRASHES the DLNA Server, and belive me, i have tried MANY.

    Now, on to my remaining issue:

    My TV ignores EXTERNAL subtitles. Through some tinkering, i was able to make it use them for video files other than .mkv, but when an MKV comes with integrated subtitles that are NOT supported by my TV, i can't make it pick up external ones either.

    Somehow i lost my config that was picking up external subtitles for other files too :(

    Using Nero MediaHome (it came with my TV) i have no issues.. but thats a WINDOWS software, and my home server runs on Debian :P

    I was able to make SERVIIO work just fine for what i want, but i really find mediatomb more to my liking, so i would like to get some help configuring MEDIATOMB to pickup .srt/.sun/.ass (whatever external subtitiles i may have) for any/most video types. (my subtitles are always named exactly like my videos).

    PS: i tried using mencoder for transcoding subtitles, which i have no info about LG compatibility, but it either is incompatible, or ir did it wron.

    my current config:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <config version="1" xmlns="http://mediatomb.cc/config/1" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://mediatomb.cc/config/1 http://mediatomb.cc/config/1.xsd">
