    Hi there,

I'm working successful with Mediainfo on Ubuntu 12.04.
I seem to get all the data I want from media files except one: %Video_EncodingSettings%
According to the manual, following should work:
    mediainfo "--Inform=Video;Video encode settings are: %EncodingSettings%" sample.mpg

But it doesn't. Bug in mediainfo, or something else
    The video_encodesettings are displayed via:
    mediainfo sample.mpg

But than I get a lot of extra data, which I don't want.

  • There is no "EncodingSettings" in MediaInfo. Try "Format_Settings".
The list of field names to use with command line can be seen with "mediainfo --Language=raw sample.mpg"

Thanks for the info. With the option "Format_Settings" 'Encoding settings' is printed. My issue is that with mpeg4 files encoded in MBAFF (interlaced) the scan order bff/tff not is provided but contained in the field '%EncodingSessiongs%. So I think mediainfo should provide the scanorder, or make the option filed directly accessible

  • MBAFF (interlaced)

MBAFF is not interlaced. It is either interlaced of progressive, per macroblock.

or make the option filed directly accessible

    It is available with "%ScanType%".

Note: I made an error in my previous message (I'll edit it), use "mediainfo --Language=raw" in order to have the field names to use.

    Dear Jerome,

Thx very much, so I needed %Encoded_Library_Settings% and that worked :)
