It would be nice if gaim implemented this feature, but
since it doesn't, maybe the meanwhile plugin could
allow you to invite a group to a chat by inviting a
buddy that matches the name of the group. I've
attached a patch that seems to work for me.

You'd be better off adding an "invite to chat" menu item for
the groups directly. There's already a callback function to
compose a list of actions for a group in blist_node_menu_cb.
It's currently only used to present a NAB Group Info dialog
when the group is a NAB, but that could certainly be
    modified a bit

Cool. I'll look into it. If I can figure it out, I'll post
    another patch.

Will this functionality be available in any the binary
    meanwhile for gaim release soon?

Tried compiling with the below patch... doesn't seem to
    work...

    And no errors either...

Any suggestions or a different patch will be highly
    appreciated

Please accept my thanks for the patch

Can i be lazy enough to ask for the same patch against
version 1.2.8 - if it is not too hard

I dont have the 1.2.7 source with me now(can always pull it
    from the cvs though)
