I'm trying to use an Access '97 MDB database which on a couple
of tables there are some field names which contain chars which
ASCII code is greater than 127, like 'ŕ'.

Using mdb-tools via unix-odbc results in a segmentation fault for
isql or a php module using php_odbc.
I've contacted the unix-odbc authors (easysoft) and they state
that the issue should be related to the mdb-tools driver, since they
test unix-odbc also with "accented letters" (i.e. chars > 127
ASCII).

Sadly I cannot change the Access '97 database format or field
names, I can just read from it.

Is there a workaround for this issue?
How can I help you to solve this problem?

Thanks for your time.

Same problem here with an access 2000 database in which the tables and fields names were written in Japanese.
It seems like an encoding problem (mojibake).
