For using Maxima at school in Germany, there are some very basic features missing:
- Handling non-finite sets and intervals and the sets of natural numbers, integers, real and complex numbers.
- Solving inequalities like x^2+x-3<0 with an interval as output like ]xmin, xmax[.
- It would be nice, if Maxima makes a case differentiation in the output, when a parameter is not specified. For example: solve(a*x^2+b*x+c=0,x) returns the formula for solving quadratic equations, but makes no case differentiation for the discriminant or for the case a=0.
